One of the most common culprits may be something small: the Y-strainer screen.


The Y-strainer filters a portion of the incoming source water and provides the clean hydraulic flow and pressure needed to operate the backwash valve.


Here’s how it works:


➡️ Source water enters through the inlet manifold

➡️ The Y-strainer screens the water

➡️ Clean water is sent to the solenoid valves

➡️ When energized, the solenoid directs water to the backwash valve diaphragm

➡️ Hydraulic pressure moves the valve from filtration to backwash & back again
