Many unwanted substances in water are present in dissolved form, so removing them requires filter media that are “activated”. There are a variety of activate medias, each tailored to the removal of one or more specific dissolved substances.
Examples of dissolved substances often found in water sources include: iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, arsenic, odor, unpleasant taste, color and hardness.
Wastewater often contains substances that need to be removed prior to re-use or discharge. Such substances can include: oils, hydrocarbons, dyes, soaps, solvents, BOD, COD and heavy metals.
Everfilt engineers specify the type of activated media suitable for each application and then size the filter system based on the operating parameters specified by the manufacturer of each media.
